Karate or Kung Fu Kid?

Query: The remake of the movie "The Karate Kid" - Jackie Chan teaching Karate (or Kung Fu)?

  1. It's really a misnomer. The stances, the strikes It's all Kung-fu. I bet the producers did foresee this mistake and is cashing in on it as we speak.

  2. i would like to think of it as like a batman movie..there're already several actors who became Bruce Wayne and like karate kid..different styles of martial arts can be introduced..although the title Karate wouldn't appropriate but i think it's okay since it's the same storyline but has a different martial discipline..i think it'd be good to introduce different styles of martial arts..but the problem could be that the new stories introducing different martial arts would suddenly deviate from the original story which should be the utmost priority to give credence and respect to the original title and storyline regardless of the martial art.

  3. @Raipo - Hollywood is still keeping with the 80's movie revamp thing. I guess they are running out of original ideas.

@Lloyd - I think the original movie was good. Maybe they could have thought of a different title instead, rather than making a modern twist to the original. Karate is Japanese like Mr. Miyagi, this one... I don't know. But I'm still going to watch this because I like Jackie Chan.
